Nope, not quite...
We call it ... a "bitch-nic".
Today two of my co-workers and I went out to the park for lunch. We have been doing this at least once or twice a week for most of the summer. It gives us some time to vent and release some stress. Today they both let me talk (whine & moan) about the homestudy update situation in Nova Scotia.
Here is some information about this topic that someone shared in a group I am part of:
"The wait now (from LID to referral) is approximately 20 months and is still growing. So this issue will probably affect anyone who is now logged in. (that would be us)
A homestudy approval in NS is good for 2 years; a homestudy update is also good for 2 years.
The province is requiring that if your homestudy or update will expire before referral you will need an update. They are allowing people who are logged in using an update to do an additional update, which will be good for another 2 years.
The update will include: meeting with a social worker to review any changes, the social worker will call your references, a child abuse register check, a criminal records check, medicals, and financial statements. Depending on family circumstances this could cost anywhere from $500 to $1000 plus time off work and travel costs.
Sounds like a full fledge update to me!!" (ME TOO!)
Hopefully with some work and patience we can change this; so that re-doing all of this work we already did is not necessary. I am not saying that there should not be some kind of update but doesn't this seem a little extreme??
