VENTING - Proceed With Caution

On some of the Yahoo groups I am on there has been a lot of talk about people and some of the things they ask/say to you. Once you make the decision to adopt it is like your life has become an open book and not necesseraily by your choice. I guess we all have to be prepared for the ignorant people out there.(and I mean that in the nicest way possible)

So far we have not had too many strange or intrusive questions but there is always that one that will stick with you. In the middle of a public place, with lots of people around to hear, I was interogated by a man I didn't even know, wanting to know why I chose China. I told him, "because that is where my daughter is." After I said this I could see the wheels turning in his head trying to process that statement ... he then said "oh, does she teach school there or something?" HELLLLLLOOOOOOOO!?!?!?!? I have a sign on the table right in front of me stating that we were raising funds to ADOPT A BABY FROM CHINA!! DUHHHHHHHHHHHH! I am sure this is only the first of many conversations to come for me to try to educate the idiots!

By the way I am still sick!

4 Months Closer

Well we have 4 months down ... approx ?? to go.

Thursday Abby and I went to the beach and had some fun in the sand! She is just so cute!

By the way we are still sick and could not go out today to celebrate our LID-aversary. Oh well I guess we have a lot more months ahead of us to go out and celebrate. Each month that passes is one more month we are getting closer to "Maggie".

Time To Catch Up

It doesn't really feel like that long since I posted but seems like so much has happened. I will try to catch you up quickly.

I baked my first batch of homemade bread. This was quite an adventure, but turned out so well!

Our cat Phantom had to go have her back shaved. Her fur got majorly matted and we were scared it was hurting her so we got it shaved off. She is doing much better now and the fur has started to grow back already.

I am a fan of American Idol and watch it every year, this year they did something very special.

"Idol Gives Back" - A historic TV event – a two-night special on April 24 and 25 which will save and change the lives of children and young people in extreme poverty in both the USA and Africa.
Here is a clip from the show of Carrie Underwood that I enjoyed.
Here is a picture of the remaining top six Idol contestants this year.

I filled out and sent my questionaire for the secret pal gift exchange on my DTC/LID DEC 2006 Yahoo group.
This is a group I belong to online that consists of people (from all around the world) who were DTC or LID the same month as we were. They are a terrific support group since they are all going throught the same things that we are. The secret pal gift exchange is a fun way to pass the time we have to wait. Every two months we will purchase and send out a gift to our secret pal and in return we will receive one from our secret pal.

Larry finally received a surgery date and it has since been changed due to him being sick. Larry then decided he would like to share his sickness and passed it on to me.

I was hoping we could do something exciting this weekend but we're just not feeling up to it. I am still hoping that we will be able to go out for supper on Sunday for our 4 month LID-aversary. (LID-aversary - Log In Date Anniversary)

You Might Need Your Kleenex Again

I was on the Internet tonight looking for adoption related music. I came across this song, and I couldn't go any further.

This song says it all, everything I feel and everything I want my future daughter to know.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
(Lyrics to the song are below.)

~You may have to click on the PLAY arrow a couple times but it will eventually come on. I had a hard time finding this video code on the Internet so I had to take what I could get.~

Blessed

Music by Elton John
Lyrics by Bernie Taupin
Available on the album Made In England

Hey you, you're a child in my head
You haven't walked yet
Your first words have yet to be said
But I swear you'll be blessed

I know you're still just a dream
your eyes might be green
Or the bluest that I've ever seen
Anyway you'll be blessed

And you, you'll be blessed
You'll have the best
I promise you that
I'll pick a star from the sky
Pull your name from a hat
I promise you that, promise you that, promise you that
You'll be blessed

I need you before I'm too old
To have and to hold
To walk with you and watch you grow
And know that you're blessed

Yes, finally we have our log in date!

Today we received an email from Jenna at Children's Bridge (our agency) notifying us of the date our file was logged in at CCAA.

RockYou FunNote - Get Your Own

(For those of you who don't remember what LID means refer to this previous post: CLICK HERE )

This means we have 3 full months of "The Wait" under our belts!

In adoption terms, finally getting to this point classifies us as being "PAPER PREGNANT". To celebrate Larry and I went out for supper tonight. The panda in this video is singing how I feel, lol! So cute!

Easter - The Sequel

Well since we received so much snow on Sunday our Easter dinner and egg hunt at Mom's had to be moved to today. Even Jeannie came for Easter dinner this year. We all had a great day hunting for eggs and yummy dinner. This was Sydney's first time hunting for eggs with us, she came in second place. GREAT JOB SYD!! The Easter bunny managed to find all of us, even through all the snow! Below are some pictures from Easter Monday at Mom's.
** By the way, I WON THE EASTER EGG HUNT!!

"I'm Dreaming Of a White Easter!?!?"

Not sure what I should blog about first today, Easter or the weather. For any of you that don't live in snowy Nova Scotia and surrounding areas; for the better part of yesterday and last night we received up to 30 centimeters of snow in some areas. Unbelievable, maybe but here are some pictures to prove it. This first picture was taken in the afternoon on Saturday, the next picture was taken about 1 hour later.

This picture is the end result on Sunday morning!

As for our Easter, plans changed, and we spent the day home relaxing after all the eggs were found. Good Job Sydney!! Here is a few pictures from Easter morning.

More March Break Pictures

These pictures are from my first trip to Putting Edge. Sydney and I had a great afternoon playing glow in the dark mini golf. We will be going again!

March Break Pictures

Here are the pictures I promised from March Break.

Easter Fun!

I am so excited ... Sydney is spending Easter with us this year!!

We colored our Easter eggs on Friday. I found a terrific site for scrapbooking so I gave it a try. Here is a scrapbook page with some photos of us in the act and the finished product. (Please excuse Sydney's PJ's, she is fighting a cold.)
