VENTING - Proceed With Caution

On some of the Yahoo groups I am on there has been a lot of talk about people and some of the things they ask/say to you. Once you make the decision to adopt it is like your life has become an open book and not necesseraily by your choice. I guess we all have to be prepared for the ignorant people out there.(and I mean that in the nicest way possible)

So far we have not had too many strange or intrusive questions but there is always that one that will stick with you. In the middle of a public place, with lots of people around to hear, I was interogated by a man I didn't even know, wanting to know why I chose China. I told him, "because that is where my daughter is." After I said this I could see the wheels turning in his head trying to process that statement ... he then said "oh, does she teach school there or something?" HELLLLLLOOOOOOOO!?!?!?!? I have a sign on the table right in front of me stating that we were raising funds to ADOPT A BABY FROM CHINA!! DUHHHHHHHHHHHH! I am sure this is only the first of many conversations to come for me to try to educate the idiots!

By the way I am still sick!

I just found your blog - we are in the same DTC group and do I EVER hear you - sometimes you gotta wonder!?!?!? We are ALMOST at the 4 month mark - it's quite a wait, isn't it?? Our last adoption was only six months to referral - this is horrible!!!!! Hang in there- we're in it with you!!
