21

Just for formality sake I thought I would post this…

Last Monday marked another month of waiting for our little “Maggie” from China. They say “absence makes the heart grow fonder”…I’m not sure I can grow any fonder before my heart bursts right out of my chest!

21…wow, I still can’t believe it!

Here is a poem I stumbled across a few months ago.
It just felt so fitting for this post.

You Are Mine
by Kelly Feichtinger

I love you
though I have yet to see your face.
You are mine.

I dream of holding you in my arms
my child from far away
You are mine.

I lie awake at night
Imagining who you will be.
You are mine.

I prepare our home and my heart
to receive such a precious child.
You are mine.

I pray for your happiness and safety
until I can be the one to provide it.
You are mine.

I hold my breath
as we wait for the call.
You are mine.

I will the time to fly by
as we wait for permission to travel
You are mine.

I feel as though my heart will burst
when you are placed in my arms.
You are mine.

You rest your soft cheek against mine
and sigh contentedly.
I am yours.

After Larry & I spent an evening at the beach this week reminiscing about our LONG wait for "Maggie" ... here is my post to mark our 18th month waiting.

We both are looking forward to the day we can bring our little one to the beach to make footprints in the sand.

Sweet(?) SIXTEEN!!!

Dear Baby Maggie,

It has been 16 months since Daddy & I were logged in with the CC@@. In this amazing journey to you we are learning many things. One of the most important things we have learned is the ability to love someone unconditionally with all of our heart, being & soul even before knowing who they are, or what they sound like or look like.

These past few months have been long and trying at times but we do not regret any of it, not one second, for we know that one day our lives will be complete… and that will be the day we finally meet you…

and until then we are…

Still wishing...

Still hoping...

Still aching…

Still wanting...

Still dreaming...

Still longing…

Still yearning...

Still craving...

Still praying...

But above all, we are…

Still waiting... waiting... waiting...

And for you, we will wait as long as it takes… this I promise you, my princess.

Thinking of you always and loving you forever,
Mommy & Daddy
xoxo

"Gone, Gone, Gone, I've Been Gone So Long...

I've been gone, gone, gone so long!"

I don’t even know where to start to try and catch up. I am weeks behind on my emails, I am trying to get caught up on the blogs I follow and recently my posting here has been non-existent. Between Christmas, New Years, being sick and switching offices at work I have felt like I don’t even have time to go to the bathroom!

Here is a slideshow of some of our holiday fun.

We had a wonderful Christmas with our friends and family. As usual we celebrated with too much good food and drinks, so now we are headed back to the gym so we can work off all of our consumed goodies.

Here is a slideshow of some of our favorite kiddos durring the holidays.

While I was taking my blog hiatus we passed a major milestone on our adoption journey. We have officially been logged in with CCAA for 1 YEAR!!! Here is what the count up meter on my blog looked like on Jan. 29, 2007:

In honour of our 12 months down I would like to share this video:

We rang in the New Year with our friends Lisa & Jeff and Erin & Derek and all of their adorable kiddos. The evening was spent with good food and lots of laughs and of course fireworks!

Larry and the girls waiting for the fireworks.

Jeff shooting off his gun at mdnight. Now that is a smokin' gun!

There is so much more blogging to be done but Larry has just challenged me to a game of Yahtzee so it is my duty to now go kick some butt, lol!

11 Months & Post Shopping Post

While I was off doing some extreme retail therapy this week, our 11th month LIDiversary has passed. I am glad to have those months behind us but the uncertainty of how many months are still ahead is … discouraging, at the very least. I know most of you know exactly what I mean. Not much else to say about it … it is what it is.

OK enough of that …

So I survived the Christmas Shopping and I got some good buys. Of course I still have some things that I will have to wait to get when we are closer to Christmas but this was a good start. Here is a peek at my Mom's car after 1½ days of shopping.

I’m glad we weren’t planning on going for any longer, lol!!

Here is a picture of some of the stuff I bought. I couldn’t take a picture of most of it because friends and family read my blog and I don’t want them to see their gifts. Most of the stuff in this picture is for kids, godchildren and friend’s kids. I also got my outfit for our company Christmas party, which was one of the main things I was looking for. Oh and of course … new shoes, lol!!

(By the way Darcie, I only had enough money for one pair of shoes so do you mind if we share them. I need them on Saturday night, after that they are all yours! LOL!!)

Bear with me for the next couple days as I try to catch up on all of your blog posts. My, my some of you have been very busy!! Back to work and reality tomorrow.

Supper, Books & Surprises

Monday night Larry and I went out for supper to celebrate having 9 months behind us. We went to Swiss Chalet and had yummy supper.

A while ago on one of my Yahoo groups there was some discussion about some really good books. I mentioned them to Larry and Wednesday these arrived:

I can't wait to get reading these, but it will be a while since I am in the middle of 2 others right now, lol!

Thursday when I arrived at work I had a cute little surprise waiting for me. Her name is Ellie and she is the sweetest little ladybug. My co-worker and friend LeeAnn left me this prezzie.

Thanks LeeAnn, Ellie made my day!!

Phantom liked Ellie too!

Almost Overdue...

(9) Months LID!

This was a hard milestone, being that the gestation period (pregnacy) of a human is usually 9 months. I don't really have much to say so I will just post some facts:

~ The 9th month of the year is September,
best remembered by the Mother Goose rhyme:
Thirty days hath September,
April, June, and November;
February has twenty-eight alone,
All the rest have thirty-one,
Excepting leap year, that's the time
When February's days are twenty-nine.

~ Maximum life span of a tornado to run its course = 9 hours.

~ Number of months for a human baby to be born = 9

~ The gestation period (pregnacy) of the cat,
guinea pigs, otter, and wolf are 9 weeks.

~ The monkey is the 9th sign of the Chinese Animal Zodiac based on the lunar year. Monkey-year people are charming, curious, and confident.

~ The 9th letter of the English alphabet is I.

I am glad this month is behind us and now we are working towards double digits.

8 Months!?!?

How did that happen??

Yesterday was 8 months since our dossier has been logged in! Here is a little "8" flashback for those of you that watched Sesame Street.

I have been counting down the days until my vacation, since today is Thursday I only have one more day before my vacation starts!! YAHOO!! Larry and I are loading up the car and heading to New Brunswick!
We have been together for 11 years and have never gone on vacation together. I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas, lol! I have only been to New Brunswick once and I drove in and then drove right back home, I can't wait to actually get there and be a tourist!!

5 Months Closer!

As of today our file has been logged in with CCAA (China Center for Adoption Affairs) for 5 months. YAHOO!! Larry and I are going out to celebrate being one more month closer to “Maggie”. I am also going to try to find a gift for my secret pal tonight. I am finding our theme for July difficult. I can’t figure out what to buy, our theme is “Welcome to Canada/new country”. Not sure what I can buy a baby to go along with this theme. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Well my weekend was great! We all had a fantastic time and the weather was perfect! Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Can’t wait to do it again girls!!

4 Months Closer

Well we have 4 months down ... approx ?? to go.

Thursday Abby and I went to the beach and had some fun in the sand! She is just so cute!

By the way we are still sick and could not go out today to celebrate our LID-aversary. Oh well I guess we have a lot more months ahead of us to go out and celebrate. Each month that passes is one more month we are getting closer to "Maggie".

How Do You Spell Relief?

L - I - D!!!

Yes, finally we have our log in date!

Today we received an email from Jenna at Children's Bridge (our agency) notifying us of the date our file was logged in at CCAA.

RockYou FunNote - Get Your Own

(For those of you who don't remember what LID means refer to this previous post: CLICK HERE )

This means we have 3 full months of "The Wait" under our belts!

In adoption terms, finally getting to this point classifies us as being "PAPER PREGNANT". To celebrate Larry and I went out for supper tonight. The panda in this video is singing how I feel, lol! So cute!

LID, Where Are You??

We are still waiting for the official word on our LID (Log In Date). Our documents were sent to China on Nov. 30/06, usually the LID is approximately 1 month later. LID's are not usually sent out until something else is comming to our provience so I am praying, even more than usual, that someone in Nova Scotia gets a referal soon!

While reading some of my favorite blogs this weekend I came accross this VIDEO. The little girl in this vodeo is Steven Curtis Chapman's daughter, Shaohannah Hope. The Chapmans have adopted three little girls from China. They have become passionate champions for adoption starting a foundation for adoption assistance and advocacy called Shaohannah’s Hope, named after the first of their adopted daughters. This family is truly insperational!
