Scarecrow Weekend

Tomorrow we will be having our 2nd annual Pumpkin Party. Everyone will bring a pumpkin and we will carve our designs together, then we head up to the festival. This is the weekend of The Scarecrow Festival in our town so one of the activities we will enjoy will be the “pumpkin walk”. This is an evening event where there are many, many pumpkins carved and lit up along a road. The road is closed to cars and people can walk along and enjoy cookies, apple cider and a talented local singer. Then there will be fireworks to end the festivities and we will all head back home for a few drinks around the campfire.

I can hardly wait to enjoy it again this year!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Volunteering For A Fun Festival!

Every year our little town has a festival for all ages, it is called The Great Scarecrow Festival & Antique Fair. Click HERE for more information.

I have posted about this festival before but this time I am not posting because it is time for the festival but because I have started working as a volunteer helping to fix up and create new scarecrows. There was and advertisement in our local paper looking for volunteers for different positions on committee for the festival. Without volunteers from the community the festival will not be able to keep going, so since I enjoy it so much each year I decided to join in the fun and help out. This will be a great way to pass some of the wait time for our adoption as well.

Donna, my Mom and I spent a full Saturday working on some of the scarecrows. We looked through all of the items that have been donated and then we had fun painting new faces and fixing up some scarecrows from previous years. I can’t wait to go back another day and work some more.

I would also like to send some get-well wishes to my Mom who recently had a nerve block. My Mom goes in for this procedure twice a year for her chronic back pain. She is spending the weekend resting and recovering.

Mahone Bay Scarecrow Festival

Here are a few pictures from our Scarecrow Festival gathering. We all had a great night of carving and browsing the town looking at the scarecrows and pumpkin carvings (150+ pumpkins!!). Then we came back home and everyone stayed for a few drinks and a campfire.

Some of you may remember this post.

Party in the Pumpkin Patch

Our small town has an event every year called The Scarecrow Festival; this is the weekend it is being held. There are LOTS of displays and activities going on through out the weekend.

Tomorrow evening a bunch of our friends are getting together at our house to carve pumpkins, go walk the pumpkin path in town and then come back to our house to have some drinks and a campfire. I can hardly wait!!

Halloween is not my thing but I LOVE The Scarecrow Festival!

Donna and I went to the farm tonight to pick our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. We laughed so much my sides hurt! We were in the pumpkin patch for about and hour picking out our “perfect” pumpkins! I guess an hour is a long time in a pumpkin patch because the lady at the store said she was getting worried that something happened to us. I was thinking to myself, “we were in a huge open pumpkin patch, what was going to happen to us? Was the scarecrow going to come to life and attack us?!?!” LOL!

Here are the pics:

Then we went out for supper at Pizza Delight. After that we headed to the dollar store for decorations for the party tomorrow night. We had so much fun in the dollar store, lol!! We were trying on hats and Halloween masks. We were there so long that they were practically kicking us out because it was time to close. I was laughing so hard I was crying … ya’ gotta’ love a good laugh n’ cry!

Thanks for the great evening Donna!
