"Carmondy Countdown Calendar"

Way back on September 12 I said I would soon be posting about the "Carmondy Countdown Calendar" I made.

Here it is, finally!

I know now that I should have waited a little longer to make this because it is so HUGE (7' long)!! When I finished making it I was not sure that I was going to hang it up because it was so big. I have come to the conclusion that I LOVE being able to put stickers on the days that have been referred every month.

When we first made the decision to adopt and I started reading the blogs of other people that were adopting, one of the first ones I started reading was The Carmody Adoption Journey. They had the great idea to create a "Carmondy Countdown Calendar". A little while later I discovered that 2 other waiting Mom’s, Catherine & Dawn, had made one as well. So I figured, why not, I might as well make one too!

So now, for anyone that doesn’t know what a "Carmondy Countdown Calendar" is here's how it works. There's a calendar from November 2005 right up to December 2006. We will count down LID's (log in dates) until the CCAA (China Centre of Adoption Affairs) gets to ours, which is December 29, 2006. Each square of the calendar represents 1 day of files that CCAA needs to match with families before they reach our LID(December 29, 2006). Last month referrals were sent out to cover and include up to November 30, 2005, so I put stickers on the remaining days left in November. It's usually near the end of the month when the CCAA update their website about how many days worth of LID's they'll be sending referrals for.

Hopefully at the end of this month we will receive LOTS of day’s worth of referrals.

Great calendar! It's fun to see how the Carmody creation has taken on a life of it's own. Hoping it's covered in stickers sooner rather than later!

What a GREAT idea. I love it!! I think I will go ahead and make one, too. I don't think it will be as cute as yours.

GREAT calendar!!! WE LOVE our Carmoday Calendar too...but it really ISSSS hard to only cross of like 4 or 5 days at a time most months lately!!!

My favorite thing about the calendar though is that you can see that there REALLY IS and END to this wait!!! That's great for the boys to see as well!

Hope all those months go by fast for you guys!!!

Great idea!

I've been wanting to do something like that for awhile now...but haven't. I really need to get on it! It would be a great visual for seeing all the stickers and knowing that each day marked off is a day closer for us!

I like that idea. A visual of how close we are getting. (I'm being optimistic here.)

I'll have to look into one of those. Maybe not quite as big though. :)))

I made one too. I have it in my spa so I can better explain to my clients how the wait works, they love it and it isn't as confusing to explain to them. Yours looks awsome!

What a great idea!! You did a wonderful job!
I need to do something like that especially so my boys can see that we are making a little progress every month.

I love the idea, but our calendar would be so large right now that I think our children would be discouraged to see how far we have to go.

Looks great!!! We travelled with Karen & Mike to get our daughters together. Samara and Olivia are from the same orphanage.

It was really nice getting to know people before actually travelling together. It made the journey so much more warm and family oriented.

Hope you are able to coonect with others you will be going to China with.

Big Hugs,
